Stefania Massari – Secondment at CEITEC

In October 2024, I spent one week on a secondment at the Bioinformatics Core Facility at CEITEC Masaryk University in Brno, with the aim of learning how to analyse CUT&RUN and RNA sequencing data. During this time, I received valuable hands-on training in data preprocessing, quality control, alignment, and downstream analysis. The training provided me with a solid first overview of the bioinformatics workflows and tools used for these types of datasets, which will be very helpful as I continue developing my skills in this area.

This training is part of an ongoing learning process, and I remain in contact with the team at the Core Facility for support and guidance whenever needed. Their availability and expertise have been an important resource as I apply what I learned to my own data.

In addition to the training, I took part in the Core Facility Day – Life Sciences, an event that introduced the wide range of expert services and shared instruments available to researchers at Masaryk University. Through presentations and guided tours, I learned about the conditions for accessing various core facilities and saw firsthand how they support interdisciplinary research. This experience gave me new insights into how integrated infrastructure can facilitate and accelerate scientific progress.
